Delivery to selected countries
Delivery to Switzerland
Switzerland is not part of the European Union and has its own customs legislation. Since 1 January 2024, Switzerland has no longer levied import duties on industrial products, which includes electrical installation materials. Swiss import tax (VAT on importation). A customs declaration remains mandatory regardless of the exemption from duty. Source: State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) / Federal Office for Customs and Border Security (FOCBS), as at 2024.
Delivery to the United Kingdom
Great Britain (England, Wales and Scotland) has recognised CE marking for electrical equipment indefinitely following a change in the law in 2024. Additional UKCA marking is therefore not mandatory for most electrical products. A special arrangement applies to Northern Ireland: there, only CE marking is valid and UKCA marking alone is not sufficient. Source: UK Department for Business and Trade, gov.uk, as at 2026.
Delivery to the USA
For deliveries to the USA, no de minimis threshold has applied since 29 August 2025: previously, consignments with a value of up to USD 800 were exempt from duty, but this exemption was withdrawn for all countries of origin and permanently written into law in June 2026. Since then, in principle every consignment to the USA is subject to the standard customs declaration and customs duty, irrespective of the value of the goods. Source: U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Federal Register, as at June 2026.
Whether delivery to your country is possible in principle can be clarified with Voltus customer service before you place your order.
Countries & restrictions
The export of goods from the European Union is subject to EU export regulations and the sanctions lists in force. Deliveries to countries affected by international sanctions may be restricted or excluded.
Responsibility for import regulations
The recipient is responsible for complying with the local import regulations of their country and for obtaining any permits or approvals required prior to importation.
International returns & complaints
A certificate of origin is an official document confirming the country of origin of goods. Some customs authorities require it for import clearance or in order to apply trade agreements. If a certificate of origin is required for your order, please contact our customer service team. We will be happy to check whether such a document can be provided. HS code stands for Harmonised System and is an internationally standardised number used to classify goods in foreign trade. The customs tariffs of most countries are based on this system. If you need the HS code for an item in order to clear customs, please contact our customer service team at info@voltus.de. These terms are Incoterms, an internationally standardised set of rules for delivery terms in trade. They define the point at which the costs and risk of a delivery pass from the seller to the buyer. The delivery terms applicable to your order can be found in your quotation, your order confirmation or your shipping documents. The customs declaration in the destination country is usually made by the recipient of the goods or by a customs agent appointed by them, unless agreed otherwise by contract. Import VAT is a charge levied when goods are imported into a country. It is normally payable by the recipient of the goods. For deliveries to countries outside the European Union, additional costs such as customs duties or import VAT may apply. These are usually payable when the goods arrive in the destination country. Since 1 January 2024, Switzerland has no longer levied import duties on industrial products such as electrical installation materials. Swiss import tax (VAT) still applies. Any fees charged by the carrier for customs clearance are also passed on to the recipient. Great Britain continues to recognise CE marking for most electrical products. Additional UKCA marking is therefore not mandatory in most cases. A different arrangement applies to Northern Ireland. Deliveries to the USA are subject to the US import and customs regulations in force at the time. Customs duties and taxes may apply irrespective of the value of the goods. Unless a different delivery arrangement has been agreed, the recipient bears any customs charges, import VAT and other import costs arising in the destination country. For deliveries to non-EU countries, the invoice can be issued without German VAT provided certain conditions are met. The tax regulations in force at the time and the required proof of export are decisive. Voltus will refund the VAT if you personally export your order to a country outside the European Union (EU) and provide sufficient proof of export. To do so, please send us the required documents as originals by post. Both documents must be stamped by customs. We require: You can find the required "export and customer certificate" document here. Please complete all required fields and send the document, quoting your order number, to Voltus customer service at info@voltus.de. We will then return the document countersigned by Voltus* so that you can present it to the competent customs authority. A VAT refund is only possible if no more than three months have elapsed between the date of purchase (the invoice date applies) and the export. Voltus reserves the right to examine the submitted evidence carefully. Voltus charges a flat processing fee of EUR 15.00 per invoice. VAT refunds are only issued for invoice values of EUR 300.00 or more, in order to keep the administrative effort proportionate to the refund amount. If you have any questions, Voltus customer service will be happy to help. *Certificate of exportation and purchaser's certificate for VAT purposes for exports in non-commercial travel (Section 6 (3a) of the German VAT Act, UStG)FAQ – export, customs & shipping
