Display and operating concept

The capacitive 6-inch TFT display of the MDT Glass Touch Smart is not only large but also high-resolution with 1440x720 pixels. Operation is intuitive via swipe gestures, similar to a smartphone. You can create up to 64 functions on different levels and switch between pages lightning-fast with the jump function. For laypersons, this means: you control lighting, blinds, heating and scenes as easily as apps on your phone.

Design and customisation

The glass front combined with a brushed aluminium frame makes the Touch Smart a real design statement. It is available in white or black and blends harmoniously into modern living spaces. You can individually customise background images, logos and tile sizes so that the interface exactly matches your style. The status display in standby is also flexible: up to 12 values such as time, date, temperature or energy consumption can be shown.

Room functions and control

The Glass Touch Smart is much more than a switch. It takes over complete room control: switching and dimming lights, tunable white, RGB and RGBW for coloured lighting, sun protection for blinds and shutters as well as HVAC for heating and cooling operation. An integrated temperature sensor and a room temperature controller ensure precise climate control. For you, this means: you no longer need a separate thermostat, everything runs via one device.

Security and KNX integration

KNX Data Secure is standard and protects your communication from manipulation. The code lock function prevents unauthorised access – with the standard version for one user, with the plus version for up to four users. Integration is via the KNX bus, and parameterisation via ETS from version 5. Firmware updates can be conveniently installed via the MDT Firmware Update App.

Differences between Standard and Plus

The Plus version stands out with additional features: a surrounding RGBW backlight serves as orientation light and signalling for states or alarms. An integrated speaker provides acoustic feedback during operation and can output messages. Two binary inputs allow connection of external push buttons or window contacts. In addition, the Plus version offers an astro timer for time- and sun position-dependent control as well as the pat function for a quick central OFF command by flat touch.

Technical details

Both versions measure 92x160x12.5 mm and are mounted in a standard flush-mounting box. The auxiliary voltage is 24–30 V DC, and an integrated bus coupler is present. Power consumption is minimal, and the protection rating IP20 makes the device suitable for dry indoor rooms. The ambient temperature may range between 0 and 45 °C. The Plus version additionally features a PT1000 connection for external temperature measurement.

Logic and scene control

With universal logic and scene control, you can realise complex sequences. For example, a "Evening" scene can be programmed to dim the lights, close the blinds and adjust the temperature. For laypersons, this means: you press a button and your room automatically adapts to your mood.

Installation and practical use

Installation is carried out in a standard flush-mounting box, and wiring is straightforward thanks to the integrated bus coupler. After assigning the physical address and loading the application program, the device is ready for use. Parameterisation via ETS allows you to customise all functions individually. For laypersons, this means: your electrician sets everything up, and you enjoy full control of your smart home.

Combination options

The Glass Touch Smart can be combined with all KNX components, whether wired or expanded via line coupler with radio. You can use it as a central control for lighting, shading and climate or integrate it into complex scenes.
