The HAGER CDS440D is a four-pole residual current circuit breaker (RCCB) of type A, designed for rated currents up to 40 A and a rated residual current of 30 mA. It meets the requirements of the standards EN 61008-1 and IEC 61008-1 and is intended for use in low-voltage installations, especially in residential and commercial buildings with three-phase power supply.

Normative Requirements and Mandatory Use

  • DIN VDE 0100-410: Protection against electric shock – Residual current circuit breakers ≤ 30 mA are mandatory for all socket outlet circuits ≤ 32 A in residential buildings.
  • DIN VDE 0100-530: Selection and erection of electrical equipment – Requirements for protective devices.
  • DIN VDE 0100-701: Rooms with bathtubs or showers – RCCB protection is mandatory.
  • DIN VDE 0100-722: Electrical installations of charging equipment for electric vehicles – Residual current protection with DC detection required (Type A combined with DC monitoring or Type B).
The CDS440D is particularly suitable for type A applications where no smooth DC residual currents > 6 mA occur. For charging equipment or frequency converters, a type B or additional DC residual current sensor may be required.
