The GVS AMMA-16/10.S KNX universal actuator offers flexible and extensive control as a multifunctional actuator for up to 16 switching outputs, 8 AC shutter outputs, and 4 DC shutter outputs with polarity reversal. Alternatively, the outputs can be configured as 4 fan or 4 valve outputs. This versatility allows individual adaptation to different applications in building automation, such as lighting and socket control, shading systems, fan regulation, or heating and cooling valves. The outputs are configured via parameters and thus flexibly adjustable to the respective requirements.

The switching outputs are suitable for electrical loads such as lighting or sockets and support central functions like central control, staircase lighting, flashing functions, on and off delays, scenes, operating hour counters, logic links, and forced control. These extensive control options allow practical implementation of complex switching tasks directly in the actuator, reducing the need for external logic modules. The shutter outputs control drives for blinds, roller shutters, awnings, or curtains with functions such as slat adjustment, shading, scene control, and safety functions. Both AC and DC drives with polarity reversal are supported, ensuring broad compatibility with various drive systems.

For fan control, up to three fan speeds are available, featuring central control, forced control, automatic operation, and status feedback. This enables differentiated and demand-oriented fan regulation within the KNX system. The valve control supports 2- and 4-pipe systems with 3-point valve types and offers various control modes such as open/close, continuous PWM, and 2-point control. Additionally, heating and cooling functions can be activated or deactivated, and valve status as well as valve flushing are transmitted. These functions are particularly relevant for integration into heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, allowing precise and versatile room climate control.

Direct integration into the KNX bus system is achieved via an integrated KNX-TP interface, ensuring stable and secure communication. The universal actuator supports KNX Data Secure, which protects telegrams against unauthorized eavesdropping and manipulation at the telegram level, thus providing a modern security standard in building automation. Parameterisation is done via ETS, with all outputs individually configurable. On-site operation is supported by manual buttons and status LEDs per output, which display and enable direct control of the current state. Switching between manual and automatic operation is realised via a separate button with LED indication.

The device is designed for mounting on a 35 mm DIN rail and has compact dimensions of 216 x 90 x 64 mm with a weight of 0.85 kg, allowing easy installation in distribution cabinets. The load connections are screw terminals suitable for conductor cross-sections from 0.2 to 6.0 mm². The outputs are rated for a nominal voltage of 230 V AC at a nominal current of 16 A, with a maximum total current capacity of 160 A. The mechanical service life exceeds 1 million switching cycles, and the electrical service life is over 100,000 switching cycles for resistive loads, supporting use in durable and robust installations.

The extensive functions of the universal actuator, such as central functions, scenes, logic links, operating hour counters, and forced controls, allow comprehensive automation and individual adaptation of control tasks directly in the device. This enables efficient implementation of complex control tasks and reduces the need for external additional devices. Support for AC and DC shutter drives, fan speeds, and valve controls makes the device a versatile solution for various automation requirements in residential and commercial buildings.

Operation is complemented by manual buttons per output, which, in addition to control, provide a status display via LEDs. For shutter drives, short button presses move the blinds up or down, long presses stop the movement or control the slat adjustment, with the LED blinking during movement and lighting continuously at the end position. For fan speeds, separate buttons and LEDs for up to three speeds are available, which also allow switching on and off. Valve control differentiates between 2- and 4-pipe systems, with different buttons and LEDs used for heating and cooling valves depending on the system. This manual operability facilitates commissioning, maintenance, and local control without additional operating devices.

Parameterisation via ETS allows flexible assignment and configuration of outputs, with extensive functions such as central control, scenes, logic gates, and forced control individually configurable. The device thus supports practical adaptation to different automation scenarios and simplifies integration into complex KNX systems. The integrated KNX Data Secure function protects communication from unauthorized access and manipulation, which is particularly important in security-relevant applications and sensitive control tasks.

Mounting on the standardised 35 mm DIN rail enables simple and space-saving installation in distribution cabinets. The robust screw terminals ensure secure and durable electrical connections. The compact design and moderate weight facilitate handling and integration into existing systems. The device is intended for operation in enclosed housings and should be protected from moisture, dirt, and damage to ensure long-term functionality.

The technical data of the AMMA-16/10.S include a nominal voltage of 230 V AC at 50/60 Hz and a nominal current of 16 A per output. The inrush current is briefly 300 A for 2 ms, which is relevant for controlling inductive loads. The maximum total current capacity of the actuator is 160 A, allowing high load capacity for larger switching circuits. The mechanical service life of over one million switching cycles and the electrical service life of over 100,000 switching cycles for resistive loads ensure high reliability and durability in operation. The connection terminals are designed for conductor cross-sections from 0.2 to 6.0 mm², providing flexibility in wiring.

Features such as operating hour counters, logic links, and forced controls allow differentiated control directly in the actuator. For example, time-dependent switching, logical linking of multiple inputs, or forced switching commands can be realised without external logic modules. Central functions enable simultaneous control of multiple channels, e.g., for lighting scenes or shading groups. These integrated functions reduce planning and installation effort and increase flexibility in system design.

Fan control supports up to three speeds with automatic operating modes and status feedback, enabling demand-oriented ventilation control. Valve control is compatible with 2- and 4-pipe systems and supports various control types including 3-point, PWM, and 2-point control. Additionally, heating and cooling functions can be activated or deactivated, and valve status is fed back. These functions are particularly important for integration into HVAC systems and enable precise and flexible room climate control.

The KNX-TP interface enables direct connection to the KNX bus system without additional interface components. Communication is stable and secure, supported by KNX Data Secure, which protects data transmission at the telegram level against unauthorized eavesdropping and manipulation. This ensures secure integration into modern KNX systems with increased security requirements. Parameterisation is done via ETS software, with all functions and channels individually configurable, allowing flexible adaptation to different use cases.

On-site handling is facilitated by manual buttons and status LEDs per output, enabling direct control and status display. Switching between manual and automatic operation can be easily performed via a button, supported by an LED indicator. Programming of the physical address is also done via a button with LED signalling. The device is designed for mounting on a 35 mm DIN rail and features compact dimensions that allow space-saving installation.

The robust design and extensive functions make the GVS AMMA-16/10.S KNX universal actuator a practical solution for demanding control tasks in building automation that require flexible adaptation and secure communication. The combination of extensive control functions, high load capacity, and modern KNX security enables efficient and secure integration into KNX systems.
