The GIRA 537503 motion detector attachment S3000 System 55 is an electronic attachment for automatic control of lighting systems that responds to movements within a defined detection area. It detects heat movements and takes ambient brightness into account to switch the lighting on or off as needed. The motion detector attachment is specially designed for use with System 3000 and can be operated in combination with switching, dimming, or auxiliary inserts with a 3-wire connection. This allows the motion detector’s functionality to be easily integrated and expanded within existing System 3000 installations.

The central function of the motion detector is the automatic switching of lighting depending on detected movement and set ambient brightness. The brightness threshold is continuously adjustable in the range of about 5 to 500 lux, enabling adaptation to different lighting conditions. Additionally, a day operation function is available, allowing the lighting to be switched regardless of ambient brightness. The sensor’s sensitivity can be set in four levels (25 %, 50 %, 75 %, 100 %) to individually adjust the responsiveness to movements. The follow-up time, i.e., the period during which the lighting remains on after the last detected movement, is set to approximately two minutes.

For operation and control, the product offers the possibility to manually switch on or dim the lighting during the follow-up time in combination with a System 3000 auxiliary insert with control attachment or mechanical push-button at the main station. If a System 3000 dimming insert is used, the lighting can be activated with the last set brightness or a stored switch-on brightness. The storage of the switch-on brightness is permanently done only via the auxiliary insert with control attachment, allowing individual adjustment and comfortable operation.

The motion detector attachment features a detection angle of 180°, covering a wide area in front of the sensor. The range varies depending on the mounting height: at a mounting height of up to 2.20 m, the detection range forwards is up to 15 m and up to 10 m to each side. At a lower mounting height of up to 1.10 m, the detection range forwards reduces to a maximum of 10 m and up to 9 m to each side. These details are important for planning and installation to ensure optimal positioning and coverage of the monitored area.

Automation functions are realised through combination with System 3000 auxiliary inserts, which allow not only manual control but also expansion of the detection range. Integration into System 3000 also enables implementation of more complex control tasks by combining different inserts, with the motion detector attachment forming the basis for demand-oriented light control.

Safety and access functions are not explicitly described in the datasheet; however, System 3000 ensures safe and controlled operation through its structured wiring and use of auxiliary inserts. The follow-up time is fixed to guarantee reliable switching off of the lighting.

The system connection is made via the 3-wire connection to System 3000, allowing the motion detector attachment to be connected with switching, dimming, or auxiliary inserts. This interface enables direct integration into the electrical installation and lighting control without additional bus or communication interfaces.

Commissioning includes setting the brightness threshold and sensitivity in four levels, allowing adaptation to local conditions and requirements. The follow-up time is factory-set to about two minutes and is not adjustable. Combining with auxiliary inserts to expand the detection range or for operation requires appropriate wiring and parameterisation within System 3000.

The design is matched to System 55 and allows installation in standard switch programmes. The attachment has a width of 1 TE (modular unit) and is finished in pure white gloss. The mounting height is intended up to a maximum of 2.20 m, suitable for typical indoor wall mounting. The required supply voltage corresponds to System 3000 specifications and is ensured via the 3-wire connection. The protection rating is specified as IP20 for use as an area switch.
