The Busch-Wächter 280 KNX BM/A4.11-134 is a motion detector with four precisely operating PIR sensors that together cover a detection angle of 280 degrees. The range is up to 16 metres per side, with a recommended mounting height of 2.5 metres. The sensors can be aligned horizontally and vertically, allowing the detector to be precisely adjusted to the building environment. Configuration is done via ETS or the Busch-free@home Next app, which offers a visual representation of the detection areas and allows settings such as switching delay, hold time, and brightness threshold to be adjusted directly on site.

Each of the four detection zones can be configured independently. This allows differentiated control for different areas such as driveway, garden, or terrace. The zones can be assigned individual responses, such as different light durations or alarm functions. The internal logic enables complex links with other KNX components, so that motion can not only switch lights but also activate cameras or send messages.

The automatic sensitivity adjustment ensures stable detection even under changing weather conditions. The sensor recognises temperature and brightness fluctuations and reacts accordingly. Glare from sunlight or reflective surfaces is suppressed. The motion detection is based on 106 sectors with a total of 424 switching segments, allowing detailed and reliable detection.

The housing is protected against dust and jet water according to IP55. The temperature range extends from -25 °C to +55 °C, easily covering Central European climate conditions. The high-quality lens ensures precise detection, while supplied protective films allow the limitation of detection areas. This helps avoid unwanted triggers from road traffic or neighbouring properties.

Mounting can be done on walls or in corners, as corner adapters are also available for the device. The detector can even be installed on the ceiling, as it can be easily tilted up by 90°. This makes installation under eaves straightforward. Connection terminals simplify wiring. An integrated tamper protection reports unauthorised access directly to the KNX system. The test mode allows checking of the detection zones independently of ambient brightness. The device is available in several colours and blends unobtrusively into modern façades thanks to its compact design.

In combination with visualisation systems such as Gira X1 or Home Assistant, extensive automation scenarios can be realised. Movements can trigger lights, cameras, notifications, or music control. The combination of motion, brightness, and temperature provides a versatile foundation for intelligent outdoor control.

An integrated sabotage contact detects tampering attempts and reports them immediately. In case of removal or forced interference, an alarm can be triggered. In combination with other sensors, this creates a comprehensive security concept for outdoor areas.
