The gate opening detector is a magnetic contact used to secure larger gates (garages). Unauthorized opening is detected and reported to the alarm control panel. The gate opening detector is mainly installed on roller, sliding, and tilt gates. The detector consists of a magnetic contact (reed switch) and a magnet. These are mounted parallel to each other. The circuit of this NC opening detector is closed when at rest. If the distance between the reed switch and the magnet increases, the circuit is interrupted and an alarm is triggered. The detector is tamper-proof. The optimal installation location is in the middle of the driveway. The reed contact is mounted on the ground, the magnet on the inside of the gate at a distance of approx. 20 mm. The gate opening detector is ideal as a surface-mounted version. It is completely waterproof and dustproof (IP 68). Thanks to its extremely robust aluminium housing, it is protected against damage from driving over it.
