The acoustic glass break detector reliably monitors large window surfaces and recognises the characteristic sound of breaking glass panes. It operates in two stages, first detecting the sudden increase in volume during glass breakage and then the muffled sound of falling glass shards. An alarm is only triggered at the control panel if both sound events are detected, effectively preventing false alarms caused by everyday noises. For optimal function, the detector should be aimed at the glass to be monitored and installed at a distance of approximately 2 to 3 metres. Depending on the type and thickness of the glass, detection is possible up to 8 metres. The monitored glass surface can range from 30 × 30 cm to 3 × 3 m, with factors such as burglar-resistant glass or window decorations potentially affecting the range.
